Obituary of Lena Geehan nee Hickey

Geehan, Lena (nee Hickey) November 27,1918 - January 04,2012 Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, January 04,2012 at Hoyles - Escasoni Complex of Topsail, formerly of Torbay, aged 93. Lena influenced and helped many people in her years as a teacher and her work in the Topsail Post Office. She was also a loyal and dedicated member of the Catholic Women's League. Lena was predeceased by her husband of fifty years Cyril, her brothers Jim, Dave, Dick and John, her sister Nellie, and her daughter-in-law Anna. Leaving to mourn her son Jim (Alice) and Jim's four sisters, her grandchildren: Mark (Sheri), Barbara - Ann, and Lynette, and her sister-in-law Marg, as well as many special nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday, January 5 from 7 - 9 pm, Friday, January 6 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service in St. Thomas of Villa Nova Church, Manuel's on Saturday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 am. Interment in the R.C.Cemetery, Topsail. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association. Special thanks to the staff of Admiral's Coast Retirement Centre where Lena spent almost two years, and enjoyed many wonderful times. Also, a very special thanks to the staff of the First Floor North of Hoyle's - Escasoni who tended to Lena in her last 17 months.
