It's been a few weeks now, Mom, since you slipped away from us. I miss you terribly. I still catch myself reaching for the phone to give you a quick call and shoot the breeze with you. I also miss your calls to my brothers and I - especially when there"s bad weather. You always phoned each of us by suppertime to ensure that we all arrived home safely when the roads are especially bad. I miss boasting about my dear Samantha. You would be so proud: a 90% average in grade nine... a gold placement at the Rotary Music Festival... her grade 9 prom.. dressed in the royal blue colour that you said would be beautiful on her. It was.
I've lost my consultant, Mom. But I sure had a great teacher in you. So, rest assured, Dad, Don, Dave, Gary and I and our families will find our way along. It's not easy. But if we can be half as strong and good humoured as you were, we will be just fine.
