Gennie and family, I am so sorry about your loss. Dave was my grade 7 teacher and then our paths crossed many years later when he was involved with the Chamber. I was so impressed and touched when he told me he had a project - a little book - that a couple of us did when we were in his class. Imagine my surprise and delight when he found it and gave it to me. I will always treasure it and will think of him every time I look at it. You all have many wonderful memories of him as well.
Very sad to hear of Dave's passing. I got to know him through the Sea Cadet program where Dave would take cadets out in his vessel The Shenandoah II. He was awesome and loved teaching sailing and seamanship. He was a great friend also to my late Father Thomas Rodgers!!! God bless you Dave...Fair Winds to you!!!
Dear Gennie - I was so sorry to hear of David's passing last week. I have very fond memories of him - his kindness and his wonderful sense of humour. It saddens me to hear of David's passing. I got to know him in the early 90's as he was entrusted to teach cadets the adventures of sailing aboard his vessel Shannondoa too. David was a great mentor who always had a story to tell. Fair winds!
So sorry to hear of Mr. Murphy's passing - I was in his homeroom for level 1 and in his Newfoundland Culture class - I was class of '88 and to this day I still chuckle when I recall how Mr. Murphy had his little vegetable garden and each student was called a different vegetable :)
Sincere condolances to the entire family from a former Beaconsfield alumni. I loved Mr. Murphy for his little VW, the big knot hung from the rearview, his simplicity, his humility. May the Lord have mercy on his soul.
