It is with heavy hearts and a feeling of great loss that the family of the late Rev. Jean Janes announce her passing at the L. A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit in St. John's on June 30, 2015, age 73 years. Jean was born in Barr'd Islands, Fogo Island in 1942, but move at age 10 with her parents to Lewisporte, where she grew up. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt; and her unselfish concern for the welfare of others. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Mabel Blakey; siblings- Mary Francis (Eric); Delphine Webb (Reginald); Donald; David; and Leah Blakey. Left to mourn her sad loss are her husband of 50 plus years, Roderick; son Sgt. W. F. Dean Janes (Lucie), Alberta; daughter Paula Barnes (Lester), Paradise; daughter Andrea Janes (Keith Hollahan), Conception Bay South; grandchildren, Nirveli, Samantha and Teagan; sister Edna T. Lewis (John - deceased), Baytona, NL; brothers in law Roy Janes (Lorraine), Carbonear, and Garry Janes, Grand Falls; sisters-in-law Eva Blakey, St. John's, Maxine Burden (Leonard-deceased), Harbour Grace, and Rita Janes, Grand Falls; a number of nieces, nephews and many friends both within and outside the church. At Jean's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Friday, July 3 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 11 am from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail. Inurnment in the Anglican Cemetery, Topsail. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
