Here's my favourite memory: I was building a fort for the older one, Deirdre (Dee Dee, since gone on to fame if not fortune in LA) up in the woods on back of our house on Tobin's Road. She may have been 8. Up through the woods comes Dad. With Reverend Coffin in tow. Long time friend, fisher, hunter. I don't remember if there were drinks in hand. Mostly because that was the usual so NOT having one would have stood out. Owen and Dad stayed and chatted for some time, clearly enjoying us and that summer Saturday morning. The next day, Owen delivered one of his many warm, relatable and heartfelt homilies. As was his practice, he used a real life story upon which to build his lesson. This time, the story was about a father who took his Saturday to build a fort for his daughter. Our thoughts are with you. He was a tremendous man and a wonderful friend to Mom and Dad. David
