Clara’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope. jw.org/finder?pub=w14&issue=20140101&wtlocale=E&srcid=share

I am deeply saddened by the news of Clara's death.I was blessed to know Clara when she worked at the Agnes Cowan Hostel.Always a kind ,gentle and caring person ,she had the unique ability to listen and acknowledge the pain and anxiety experienced by the people from outside the city who were staying there either as patients receiving treatment at the Hospital with accompanying family and many who were alone and far from home and family. She did everything she could to help them. She will be remembered with Love

Clara was my Aunt and Godmother. I'm grateful to have known her, for the kindness she showed me, and for many happy memories of Christmas's spent running around her and Gerald's house as kids. I was shocked to hear about her passing but comforted to know she was surrounded by family and is no longer in pain. I wish I could be home right now to attend the service. Sending my love to everyone who knew and loved Clara.

Deepest sympathy to the Boland and Cousins' families. In addition to my own personal condolences, I feel it is only appropriate to convey sympathy to you also on behalf of the numerous individuals and families who crossed the doors of the Agnes Cowan Hostel during Clara's employment there. It was only just a day before her passing that I met a woman who had spent many days and nights at the Hostel a few years ago, and who was touched by Clara's kindness to her and her husband. I reminisced with this woman about Clara. She remembered the comforting chats she had with Clara- especially in the late evening hours and lonely weekends away from her family. She remembered her quiet, kind demeanor and how 'sweet she was'. This woman also gave examples of the kindnesses shown by Clara to other guests of the Hostel. To Clara these things did not mean much, but they meant so much to the people who were impacted by her kindness. They all remembered her gentle and quiet, but effective manner. Clara was a friend to so many individuals and families- from all parts of Newfoundland and Labrador, and even St. Pierre-during their illness journeys- many of which required lengthy stays at the Hostel and visits for numerous return appointments. It can be said that Clara did her best to make the Hostel " A Home Away From Home" for those had to spend time there during very vulnerable times in their lives. I am sure these sentiments, and more, would be echoed by the many who are not able to pay their respects in person, but who remember her for what she did for them as an employee at Agnes Cowan Hostel. And now, may all her good deeds go with her. Rest from your labour of suffering, Clara. Sincerely, Helen (Lawlor)
