Patrick (Paddy) Fitzgerald
January 28, 1939 - June 17, 2018
Surrounded by the love of family Paddy, entered into eternal life after a brief stay at the Miller Centre.
Paddy was born the 4th of 16 children to Patrick & Rosalie (Penny) Fitzgerald of Bell Island. In 1964 he married Ada Dwyer and together they raised 4 children. Their home was always welcoming to family and friends, where you could always count on a game of growl. His love of sports was evident from his passion for hockey, softball and curling. Paddy was a proud 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus who was devoted to his family, friends and church.
Predeceased by parents, sisters Margaret, Theresa, Geraldine and brother Kevin.
Left to celebrate his life are his family; loving wife, Ada (Dwyer), their children Kenneth (Denise), Brenda (Sean) Kennedy, Ian & Rick. Grandchildren Mitch (Jessica), Kayla (Michael), Ryan, Renee, Dylan, Alexa & Zachary. Brothers and sisters; John (Gwen), Peter (Barbara), Rita (Frank) St Croix, Gerald (Lillian), Philip (Barbara), Francis (Roslyn), Leo (Carol), Gerard (Kay), Ann (Wally) Coady, Madeline (Bob) O'Brien, Catherine (Mike) Lang. Brothers & Sisters-in-law; Mary (Tom deceased) Norman, Bill (Trish) Dwyer, Dennis (Bernadette) Dwyer, Ruth (Roy) Bennett, Carmel (Peter) Allen, Brian (Nola) Dwyer, Cal (Cheryl) Dwyer, Audrey (Dave) Hurley, Don (Debbie) Dwyer, Kathy Kelloway, Carol (Philip) O'Keefe. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, brothers in the Knights of Columbus Council and past co-workers from Molson Brewery and IOC Labrador City.
A special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Centre for their care in Paddy's final hours.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday at Hickey's Funeral Home, Kelligrews from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place 10:00am, Tuesday, June 19th at St. Thomas of Villanova, CBS. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paddy's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
