Dave helped me get my very first job ever and we worked together breifly.
He was a kind, intuitive, gentle and likeable man.
He always made me laugh, and made me feel important.
His loss saddens me, and countless others.

A sweet and sunny compliment from this kind young man in high school made this shy girl's day, and has remained a happy memory for 40 years. It was a gift, and I will cherish it.

Helen, as I read the love that is pouring out in these messages you have to be reminded every day of how special Dave is and how much he will be missed. Joe will certainly miss Daves silly way of always saying his name, Joseph, as you know what we are talking about. He was silly, kind and just overall a wonderful man. Keep the beautiful memories alive and they will carry you always. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I am here for you whenever you need me. Lots of love and condolences at this time.

My deepest condolences to Helen and family on the passing of Dave; I worked with Dave at Nalcor. Dave was kind, gentle, courteous, a great worker and always had a smile. “Old Dave” (as he referred to himself as) will be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Thinking of you all at this difficult time and hope that your treasured memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead.

Deb and I first hooked up with Dave in 1978 when he and I attended Fisheries College. I think it was during the lunch time games of 120s and comparing opinions on the funniest scenes from that week’s Benny Hill show that we really bonded. Some of the best times I had getting in (a little bit of) trouble was when we had a summer job together in ’80. We knew he was a beautiful person, but didn’t realize how many others felt the same way. We can tell you from our vantage point at the back of blocked-beyond-capacity church today, with more people outside, that there wasn’t a dry eye – including ours. It’s obvious that so many people are deeply saddened by the loss of Dave and our hearts are breaking for you, his family. We are here for you. Helen, there’s not much we can add beyond agreeing with what has already been said, and what you already know about Dave. But I can tell you that when Dave and you weren’t together and he and I were at that age when we were invincible and ready to take on the world, he told me the only woman he would ever love was you.

Like all, I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I worked with him at LCP for five years. Dave and I had a fondness for Costco shirts to the point where we had to agree on what shirt we would wear on what day! Mondays were Dave's day to wear his purple plaid shirt. I could wear mine any other day!
Everytime we passed each other, Dave was say "young Bob" to whch I replied "old Dave!" who was in reality younger than me. It was all in good fun and we both got a chuckle out of it each time.
Dave will be missed.....

Incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Dave, my coworker, this morning. I was so fond of him. He was one of the first people I met on the Lower Churchill Project. He was so funny and friendly - like a dad joke sense of humour. In an work environment that can be stressful, he was always the one the see the brighter side of things. I'll miss his smile around the office, because he was always wearing one. RIP Dave
