Deb and I first hooked up with Dave in 1978 when he and I attended Fisheries College. I think it was during the lunch time games of 120s and comparing opinions on the funniest scenes from that week’s Benny Hill show that we really bonded. Some of the best times I had getting in (a little bit of) trouble was when we had a summer job together in ’80. We knew he was a beautiful person, but didn’t realize how many others felt the same way. We can tell you from our vantage point at the back of blocked-beyond-capacity church today, with more people outside, that there wasn’t a dry eye – including ours. It’s obvious that so many people are deeply saddened by the loss of Dave and our hearts are breaking for you, his family. We are here for you. Helen, there’s not much we can add beyond agreeing with what has already been said, and what you already know about Dave. But I can tell you that when Dave and you weren’t together and he and I were at that age when we were invincible and ready to take on the world, he told me the only woman he would ever love was you.
