Betty, Bruce, Bern and Families, We are very sorry and shocked to hear of Bern’s passing. We were lucky enough to have met him at Costco a few weeks ago, and had a wonderful catch-up chat. Bern was always smiling and had a way of making others want to smile, too. That was a real gift. We will miss him. Our sincerest condolences to all of you. May God be with at this very difficult time.

Our sincerest condolences to Bern’s family and friends on the passing of a hockey icon. Bern was a true volunteer who represented what hockey is all about. He’s passion was providing players an opportunity to play this great at every level he was involved with. Bern would always greet you with a smile and no matter what the conversation was about he would always end with the same smile. Bern’s experience and guidance will be sadly missed and will never be replaced. To the Tobin family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May your wonderful memories bring a smile to your face in the coming days.

The hockey world has lost an icon and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time. I have only known Bern for a short time since I joined the Executive for the SJJHL. In this short time his commitment, dedication and knowledge of junior hockey were abundently clear. This knowledge and commitement will surely be missed by the Executive of the SJJHL and all hockey people in our great province. He was always there to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. Rest in Peace!

To the Tobin family, our deepest condolences. Bern was a pleasure to have known. He always had a smile, a candy, a story or some insight on an issue when it came to hockey. He truly wanted to see children, youth and adults play the game he loved. About half our team got to know Bern through playing with the St. John's Maple Leafs and know what a pleasure it was to know someone who gave so much of his time so they could enjoy the game of hockey. From us, the coaching staff, we appreciated his selfless dedication to making the game of hockey a possibility for the junior players. We will miss him but are sure he is smiling down on each rink as we continue to play, candy in hand. God Bless.
