Lorraine, Kevin and Cynthia, Just looking at Hickey's website, since Aunt Florence died recently, and came across your Dad's death announcement. Great to see you and that your Dad lived such a long healthy and productive life, a blessing to share such a long life with a Parent. I trust everyone is well and hopefully we will connect again some unexpected day. With sincere condolences to you and your Families. Love, Flora

I love my grandpa very much, and even though he has moved on to a better place, the memories of him are forever engraved in my heart. Grandpa Trickett was living proof that you are only ever as old as you think you are. On his 90th birthday, i remember being outside in the backyard kicking a balloon back and forth between us, and eventually we had to stop because he had tired me out. Pop was never one to let anything get in his way. His age never stopped him from driving at 91, shovelling snow at 92, mowing the lawn at 93, and driving some more at 94 even though he didn't actually have his license anymore. I am so thankful that I got to spend the time i did with him this summer, and that the last memory i have of him is a truly wonderful one that I will always remember him for. He had a good life, the best any of us could have hoped for him. And wherever he is now, I'm sure he continues to bring joy to those around him.
I love you Pop.

To Grandpa,
Many have memories and moments with Grandpa, and I of course have my own that I hold close to heart. I cherish the all the times spent with him, and his fun loving nature. Grandpa always had those one line sayings that brought laughter to anyone who was near. I am so grateful that I was able to visit him one last time this summer. One memory that I will never forget is when we threw a ball around at the dinner table. It brought joyful emotions to my heart to see grandpa smile, that beautiful smile. I could see how much fun he was having, as I was too. Grandpa will always be a lasting inspiration for me, and I know he will be for many others. I love you grandpa, and one day when I pass through the golden gates of Heaven, may we play ball once again.
All my love, Rest In Peace Pops

Even though he's passed on to the afterlife his legacy and his memory will last even longer. I am proud to call Gilbert Trickett my Grandpa, and he will always be an inspiration for me to live my life to the fullest through hard work, love, and laughter. I won't forget how I felt when I learned he had tried to fix his roof at ninety three years old, or playing our last game of ball around the table when he was ninety four. He showed me that you're never too old to do anything, that age is just a number and it can't hold you back. He showed me how one person can leave a positive impact on so many others, even the strangers he may not have remembered will remember him, and I certainly will. I can only hope I'll be gifted with as long a life as he was, but when my time comes and I move on, I'll see him again and we'll pick things up where we left off.
To Grandpa, Love Stephen

Gilbert Trickett My father in undefined has been a pleasure to know you all these years and to be your son in law. We will all miss you and your incredible sense of humour and the twinkle in your eye when you deliver the punch line of your jokes and one liners as only you could do. That you were able to maintain your sense of humour through your failing health is a tribute to your strength of character. I was always amazed at how active you remained , right to the end . Still going down those stairs at 94 to work on another project in the basement. Even as your memory made it difficult, you did not sit idle. Still mowing the lawn and climbing up on the roof to clean the gutters if no one was around to stop you. I am glad I made it out to see you again this last summer and go for a few walks and listen to your stories of your youth around the bay. This time you let me mow the lawn . Even if you could not always recall my name these last few years , you always seemed happy to see me. I am grateful I saw you still in good health and we got to play those few last games of Chinese checkers . Going to Newfoundland will not be the same without you there. Your son in law Steven Heringa

Mrs. Tricket and Family: My sincere condolences to you all. Just this summer I marvelled at how well Mr. Trickett was getting around, knowing full well he must be in his 90's. I remember well when he told me a story about my grandfather, Peter Rideout (a.k.a. wild Pete). Mr. Trickett told me that moving here wasn't easy at first because people didn't take kindly to newcomers; however, he said that as hard as a name as my grandfather had, he was extremely kind to him, bringing him fresh vegetables to welcome him and his young family to Long Pond. I know they remained friends until my grandfather's passing in 1994, as I was often present during their visits. Mr. Trickett was blessed with a long and healthy life, and you have all been blessed to have him this long. Kindest regards, Bonnie

To Uncle Gilbert's Family: We send our sincere sympathy to you all. Even though Uncle Gil lived to be a ripe old age; it still isn't easy when you loose a loved one. Take comfort that we are all sharing in your loss and keeping you in our prayers. Time is a wonderful healer and as the days go by you will begin to celebrate his life rather than mourn his loss. Remember the good times you shared together and cherish your memories. He is now at rest and I'm sure sharing stories of the good old days in Spout Cove with Uncle Hubert & Uncle Lewis. Love Gail & Heber
