Dear Mr. & Mrs. Best, Stephen, Mark, Jack, Sadie, Jesse and Jamie (Anyone I have missed please pardon me),
I only got to know of Andrea's passing a few days back. I am deeply saddened and aggrieved by this news which came as a complete shock to me.
Andrea and I met during our studies at UNB MBA program. While our friendship grew over time, it was her incalculable support and guidance to me on my studies and course management that I am forever indebted to her for. Amongst many things, she was the one person I spent my last few days in Frederiction, NB before I left to return to India.
I can safely say that all those who have known her will have only the nicest things to say about her. I have never heard or known anyone to say anything otherwise.
Andrea was one of the most jovial, loveable, kind hearted, generous, affectionate, intelligent, witty, humorous and helpful persons I have met in my life. Her peaceful, supportive and caring nature brought out the goodness & best in each one of us. This is her legacy... Something we will do well to emulate and perhaps carry & pass on for our children...

From that very first day in Grade 2 when Mrs. Wheaton sat us next to each other, we were thick as thieves on Middle Bight. The memories keep coming back of the hours of my childhood that I spent in your home and at the cabin...
Climbing the crab apple tree and eating apples until we made ourselves sick
Baking and then munching on Andrea’s World Famous Chocolate Chip and M&M Cookies
Laughing in the snow until we peed our pants (giggling was our specialty!)
Singing ABBA and Rick Springfield at the top of our lungs like no one was listening
Sitting at the piano playing Wind Beneath My Wings over, and over (and over!) again
Swimming in my backyard making up fun games until we turned into prunes
Making cotton candy together at the Fall Fair while keeping our eyes peeled for cute boys
Shucking bakeapples at the cabin until our thumbs were raw
Watching horrified as Princess ate a dead frog by the pond and then laughing nonstop about how awful her breath smelled!
What silly times we had.
As we matured into teenagers and young ladies we shared our hopes and dreams and made big plans for the future. We laughed and cried, and loved and learned along the way. While we followed separate paths in life, I always held dear the wonderful memories of my first best friend.
Without a doubt I will never forget her. What a precious gift ... to have experienced so many firsts with her.
It is an honour to have called her my friend.

My condolences to Andrea’s parents and immediate family. Like everyone, I am devastated to hear of her passing. If there was a kinder and gentler person than Andrea, I have yet to meet them. We met at UNB while we were both pursuing our graduate degree and spent a lot of time together studying and trying to get through our course loads. I can still hear her laugh every time anyone of us made a joke or said something silly.
The entire UNB MBA alumni community shares in the grief and is now praying for our fellow alumni and her family. We are all a little poorer now. “No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me”. We are sorry for your loss. Andrea, we will miss you dearly.

To Andrea’s Family and Friends
So very sad to hear of Andrea’s passing. I knew Andrea through work at College of North Atlantic (CNA). Andrea was a phenomenal Instructor in both the Business program and the College Transfer program. She was very professional in her conduct and the same time approachable. Her students were never shy in sharing their respect and admiration for Miss Best or Andrea. As the Admissions Officer, now retired, there was contact with both Andrea and her colleagues requiring certain student information. Andrea was very dependable in communicating what was required at all times. She will certainly be missed for the instructor and person she was.

I worked with Andrea at the Grand Falls-Windsor Campus of the College of the North Atlantic.
Although I knew her first as a colleague and a friend, I got to know another side of Andrea through the theatre. We were both members of the Northcliffe Drama Club and acted together in an hilarious comedy called "The Maritime Way of Life".
She was a great, natural performer; but (and this should come as no surprise) she was also considerate of the other people with whom she performed. She made the rest of us look good and perform to our best potential. I guess she did the same thing for her students. Although she never taught me, I am sure that she must have been a wonderful teacher.
Her death is both a loss to our Campus community and to our local community. My family and I will remember Andrea, her family, and her many friends in our prayers. This is a very hard time to have a funeral, but I hope that her family in particular know that my family and Andrea's "Campus family" are all thinking of them at this time.

Andrea was smart, warm, witty and had the prettiest of smiles.
I had a lovely meet-up with her this past summer at Starbucks. We did our annual too-brief catch-up, had a few laughs and snapped a quick pic on her phone by her car.
I didn’t see her enough or stay in touch enough, but I loved her. My heart is broken for you and all of the people whom were lucky enough to know her well, to be taught by her, and to be part of her life.
I’ve always admired your close family and always felt the warmth on occasions I was in your home. You are wonderful parents to whom Andrea was devoted. I can’t believe you have to experience this loss. It is unimaginable.

We are so sad with Andrea’s passing. Whenever I think of Andrea I think most about the daily laughs we had driving back and forth to MUN. Andrea was certain ‘Old Betsy’ was haunted and we often screamed when she randomly turned on her wipers. On days when I drove, and it rained, my car often stalled so poor Andrea had to get out and push alongside Stephanie and Paula - in the middle of busy intersections too! We had so many laughs. I am so glad we laughed so much and have these memories. Andrea fit into our family like a glove. She is smart, kind, reserved and someone you can rely and count on. She always had a smile. She will be missed by so many and always loved.

I cant begin to even know what you are going through right now. I just heard the news and was so saddened and cried. Andrea was such a beautiful woman and I know how much she meant to you and of course how much you thought about her. She was always so friendly and happy everytime I was in her presence over the years. Please know that I am thinking of you in this difficult time. My heart broke when I heard the news. Not only did Andrea teach us class everyday but she taught us about life while doing it. To Andrea's family and friends, Andrea and I crossed paths on stage in Grand Falls-Windsor, and it was through our involvement in the arts that she became someone I will always consider a good friend. Her patience while we navigated the intricate harmonies of Queen for the chorus of the Celtic Spirit Dancers' musicals was immeasurable. When we did the same with the songs of Abba, she belted out the words with pure abandon. When we found ourselves on stage with the Northcliffe Drama Club playing members of the opposite sex, she proved herself to be a gifted actor with impeccable comedic timing. It seemed that everything she did, she did well...and always with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Her encouragement was constant, her criticism was gentle, and her love of "the little things" was unmistakable. Not only was the world a better place because she was in it, she brought joy and light to every room she entered. My sincerest condolences to you, and please know you are not alone in your grief.

There aren't any words to describe the heartbreak we're feeling right now. So many of my memories include our many trips together to the sunny south. To the Best Family
I never met Andrea's brothers but I did meet her parents. It totally explained to me how Andrea was like a bouquet of mixed beautiful flowers. She took the best of both of you and became this well rounded brilliant woman. I admired her brilliance. She was knowledgeable and had strength in areas that many didn't. She sang like an angel, was funny as hell, and firm when she needed to be. I remember the day Andrea came to work with us in 2003. She was young, shy, and extremely bright. It didn't take long for her to move from newbie to strong assertive leader. I often stood in awe as she challenged me in ways that took me days to fully comprehend. She loved her brothers, their spouses, and their children like only the greatest sister, sister-in-law, and Aunt could do. She spoke of you all so everyone knew how proud she was of her family. Andrea loved her parents and respected them. She treasured the trips she had with her Mom. She talked about her Dad with so much love and respect. You could tell Andrea came from a loving supportive environment. She was there for me when my Mom passed and let me and my dog stay with her for a night or two as she was the only friend I had at the time who loved dogs as much as I love them. I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I cry as much for your loss as I do for the loss of my friend and coworker. We are here for anything that you need. We are all still very shocked but know we care and support you. I was reading this morning and came across something that brought me comfort. This is not verbatim but my interpretation. I hope it brings comfort. "In truth, death doesn’t really exist as with every perceived death comes new life. There is no last breath. The moment you release your final breath in this realm, the next is picked up by someone else. " I believe a little piece of Andrea will live on in all of us.

Andrea was a dear friend and regular fixture in our family home for many years. When she and my sister Stephanie were together, one thing was sure and that was that there would be constant laughter. Where do I find the words. This past week I have had many smiles of memories of Andrea. She was my funny childhood friend who I travelled to Florida with many times with Tonya and Curious George. And the only time I ever got in trouble with Mr. Heber in school was when she was right there beside me. Having a friend that has been with you your entire life is a special thing. I will miss her smile, her laughter, her hilarious comments at the dinner table when I visited Newfoundland and most of all, the unconditional friendship of a friend that has known you your entire life. My sadness is deep and immense and we are all a little bit lonelier without her in the world. All my love to each of you and I hope to see you all when the world lets us see each other again.

To Andrea's family and friends. Please accept my deepest condolences. I met Andrea 10 years ago when I first started working at the College of the North Atlantic in Grand Falls-Windsor. I knew that very first time I met her on day one she was a beautiful person. Students dearly loved her as an instructor and they looked up to her with respect. Our faculty and staff loved her. She was such a giving person to whom ever knew her. Andrea was always there to help her students and go that extra mile for them more matter what time of the day. She had one of those personalities that people wanted to gather around her to get to know her. She no doubt touched a lot of lives during her time on earth. I am privileged to have known her. I hope you take comfort knowing how much of a difference she made to her students and colleagues. I will miss her beautiful smile and her "good morning" or "hello Dorothea" in the corridor throughout my days when we get back to the campus in the days to come. She will never be forgotten. Finding the right words to say about Andrea is very difficult for me. I have known Andrea for many years as I taught with her at the College in GFW, and my office was right across the hallway from hers. Every morning we shared a coffee and had a million and one laughs throughout each day. The fun we made and the serious conversations we had will never be forgotten. She was highly regarded by her students and she was very much loved by her co workers at the campus.
The highlight of my days were to make a remark or tell some funny story to Andrea, knowing that I would get that "over the glasses" look, a full out smile...or the "OH MY GOD" response.
She will be greatly missed and she really was a super lady who made a lasting impression on many of us.
