I am so very sad for your loss of this beautiful lady! I met her many years ago when I worked as a hairstylist. She came into the shop where I worked to see me. She was a bundle of joy but also very particular about how she wanted her hair styled. She became one of my regular clients for many years after, I always enjoyed seeing her (I used to refer to her has the “lady who looked like a stick of chewing gum,” because her makeup was always so perfect, and her hair was styled better than I would do. Kathleen had many a joke and lots of stories to tell! Her son John was always a part of that conversation, her grandchildren deeply loved! May you meet up with your late husband on the other side!God Bless!

Thank you for making Kathleen's obituary available to the public. I have thought that I may do something similar for quite a while now. I can tell that Kathleen and I are quite a bit a like. I'm a joke teller and a practical joker and many times what I say makes the room blush. Nothing I like more. Rest in peace Kathleen. I hope you were reunited with you husband and all those other dear folks who had passed before you. Keep telling those jokes. I'm sure heaven appreciates a good comedian.

I read about Kathleen online and her obit also made me smile. A wonderful sense of humor makes life easier! She reminded me of my own mother, who passed away 20 years ago of Alzheimer's. My mom did not write her own obituary...but we included the funny things she used to say in her memorial talk. She told us from when I was a little girl that she wanted to be cremated because it was her last chance to make an ash of herself! She would have been so happy to know that even in death she brought laughter to her family and friends! I know we will see her again in the resurrection....with her wonderful humor and loving, generous ways! I wish all of you peace and comfort at this sad time....and many happy memories of your special loved one. Condolences from Wisconsin, USA

I saw an article about her passing on the news. Sincere condolences to you all, as you have clearly lost a "spark" in your family. Take it from me, right down memories of her jokes, witty sayings, or your favorite "Kathleen-isms". With the passing of time, tiny details will get forgotten, and you'll be happy you collected them when they were fresh. Reading through them will bring comfort, tears, joy, and sadness--but it will all be worth it. She will live on in your hearts and memories--and now, fittingly for a force of nature such as herself, through the internet.
Condolences from Las Vegas,
Katie

So very sorry for your loss. As many, I did know Kathleen but somehow felt connected to her. Maybe it was the age (I was born in 47 also), maybe because she was a widow (I am also) or maybe because of her sense of humor (I am always joking too) I feel we could have been bff's. May she rest in peace and may her family know that so many were touched by her obit. Good job Kathleen!!!

She has left me with a lasting smile and even though I did not know her, I expect she's holding the hand of her husband and saying..."Wow! Would you look at that...all those people I didn't know now can see how great of a sense of humor I had." R.I.P. my dear. You will be remembered. I didn't know Kathleen at all. I read about her in the news today and was compelled to leave a kind note here as her obituary is getting national headlines. Reading her obituary, it is no doubt a fine example of the fun, humourous way she lived her life. It gave myself, and many others no doubt a great big smile and chuckle! It also helped me to take a moment for a little inner reflection. Although I'm located in Ottawa and don't know either of the family's, I thought it would be kind to let it be known that Kathleen's own self written obituary made me, a stranger from far far away, smile. She no doubt wanted that so I best thought it should let ya all know! The void she leaves is no doubt a huge one. My deepest sympathies to the families.

To all of Kays family our sincere condolences on her passing. Kay was one of a kind fun loving lady. If you were fortunate enough to have met Kay or blessed to be a friend of hers you all were very lucky, she made an immediate impact on all the people that she worked with. I worked with Kay for many years and we shared many laughs and jokes but putting that all aside she had a heart of gold and definitely spoke her mind even to her higher ups, most of us probably would have been reprimanded but not Kay because what she said was true . May she rest in eternal peace. Kay you will never be forgotten. God Bless!

So sorry to hear of Kay’s death. I worked with Kay at Chester Dawe Ltd. She was the most compassionate, loving, funny, kind, opinionated person I ever met. She brought life to that place. She visited the employees that were sick and dying. She raised money for those that needed it. She shared her family with all of us. She was so proud of all of you! She was so funny. One Christmas Kay and I dressed up in boots that were too big and masks that were really hard to breathe in and went mummering all over the store. She got swung around dancing so much that she walked out of the boots And almost passed out from the heat of the mask. She knew how to make people laugh!
Her obituary that she wrote was to all of us. She is gone but will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace Kay.

It is rarity for someone to pen their own obituary or to have an obituary contest before doing so, but Kay (as we knew her) has done so in true Kay style. The (Dennis) half of this condolence only knew Kay as a co-worker of Carmel, the other half, but over the many years of their working together at Chester Dawe Ltd., we had the frequent occasion of being in her presence and you couldn't help but being struck by her seemingly always present infectious light-hearted demeanor. This is certainly reflected in what she has written. So while we are obviously saddened by her announcement, we are sending a smiling condolence to all of Kay's family and extended family and truly hope that she is met with all of her expectations at the end of her journey.
