Obituary of Janet Lewis
LEWIS, Janet Marguerite (January 21, 1958 – November 7, 2020)
It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest sister and beautiful soul Janet Lewis, after a very courageous journey with cancer, at the age of 62. She will be greeted in heaven by our dad Brendan Lewis (2019) and our baby sister Maria Lewis-Downey (2020).
Leaving to mourn is the joy of her life, her nephew Ryan, her mother Marie, her siblings Brendan (Dolores), Gerard (Ros), Andy (Lena), Joe, John and Mary Ann (Roger) Grimes; nieces and nephews Danielle (Matt), Brad (Jessica and children Lydia and Lennon), Brendan, Chris, Marc (Carla), Leanna (Kyle), Michael and Andrew. Her fur babies Daisy, Sheba, Zoey, Puss and Rosie.
A special thank you to Janet’s close friends Barbara Pomeroy, Marilyn Tuff and Carol Ann O’Brien for your years of love, support, and friendship. You helped Janet so much during her struggle with this terrible disease. She was blessed to have you in her life.
Also, a special thank you to the doctors and nurses on 4 North A and Ambulatory Treatment Unit, especially Dr Kristy Tompkins, for your exceptional care and compassion during Janet’s appointments and stay at the Health Sciences Centre. You go above and beyond.
Janet will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She gave so selflessly to others. Our grateful hearts will cherish our many memories of her as she made our world a brighter, better place. Janet will live on in our hearts.
In honour of Janet’s memory, please say hello to a stranger and be kind to everyone you meet. If you choose to donate in Janet’s memory, please consider The Children’s Wish Foundation or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
Cremation has taken place. As per Janet’s request, a visitation will be held for both our sisters Janet and Maria at Hickey’s Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Due to COVID regulations, visitation on Friday, November 13 from 2-9 pm will be restricted to 20 people at a time; family and friends are kindly reminded to keep their visits short to allow everyone an opportunity to celebrate Janet and Maria’s lives. A private funeral service has been planned. To send a message of condolence, please visit www.hickeysfuneralhome.com
