I was greatly sadden to hear of Gerald's passing. My condolences to the
Abbott Family. I met Gerald when I moved to St.Alban's School in Grade 7.
We quickly became good friends and remained good friends.
With his good nature and great sense of humour, he was a joy
to be around. Whether it was hanging out at Kelligrews Wharf, Army
Cadets or our great Beatle caper, we always had fun.(Especially the
day we went to St.John's to get our Beatle wigs.)
To Gerald's Family, I would like to leave you with lyrics from a song which
I think captures the moment ......
" Just us kids hanging' round today
Watching our long hair going gray.
Not so skinny, maybe not so free
Not as many as it used to be."
Rest In Peace old friend.

I worked with Gerry at BMO for years. He was my boss during a few of those years and he encouraged and supported me very much. Gerry was so compassionate and cared about people, he went above and beyond to help staff and clients alike. He had a sense of humour and sure loved his antique cars! He spoke about his children often. May all those in his family know how much others care at times like this. Sincere condolences to you all. May he rest in peace.

Gerald my friend, how old were we when we walked up the railway tracks to Seal Cove. Then we decided to walk to the main road and travel down back to Kelligrews. We were so tired and hungry that we talked of eating part of our arms to get us home. Thank God we didn't have to, our "buddy conversation" got us home safely and left us a memory. Of course I can't forget the time that you, Wayne Fagan and Ronnie Tilley and myself in grade 8 decided to form a Beetle band for St. Alban's school concert. We actuality let our hair grow to look like the Beatles and had to explain to people that the reason our hair was long is that we were preparing for a concert on the Beatles (you see at the time if you're hair was long you were considered poor). You and Ronnie actually went on with the music business for a while. You met up with Lorne Haines and can't quite remember the other two and form the Shiparos Ronnie was a good singer, he really did have a voice. Thanks for letting me think of us my friend.

Ada, Samantha, Don and Mary, Scott and Susan and all the Abbott Family:
Our sincere condolences on Gerry's passing. We met Gerry back in the early 1980's when we joined the Antique and Classic Car Club. We became very close friends and camping buddies, he was a loyal friend, pleasant, fun loving, and always had a smile, he was easy going and adventurous, we had a lot of fun times. We remained good friends visiting him and Ada at St Luke's. He still had that contagious smile when we visited. He has had a hard few years, God Bless him and now may he rest in peace.

Our sincere condolonces to Scott, Susan and all the family.
As a grateful young college student i truly appreciated the door to door taxi service in the beetle full of fun each day. A frugal banker to the core Gerald would turn off the VW every day at Octagon Pond and we would coast gas free to the bottom of Topsail Hill.
Coast to Heaven my friend. You have earned a free ride there.

To Samantha, Don and Families,
Gerry was a very special man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He had an infectious smile you could always expect to see when you visited. He certainly loved music and you could see a tear in his eye when he recognized a special song. One special memory for me will be seeing Gerry and Ada walking around at the home and Gerry sneaking a kiss. He will be missed.

We have some comfort that Uncle Gerald will be reunited with Dad (Dave), Grandpa Walter & Nan Anne Abbott and Uncle Rex. My sincere condolences to the rest of the family.
