Obituary of Walter Tobin

Walter Tobin March 13, 1952 – March 12, 2021 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Predeceased by his parents: Millicent and Walter Tobin Sr., Mother and Father -in-law: Alfreda and George Batten, Brothers-in-law: Patrick Whiffen, Wayne Batten and David Batten. Leaving to mourn his passing with so many fond and loving memories are his wife: Betty, his sons: David (April) and Brian; his grandchildren: Poppy’s treasures Brent and Brody; his sisters: Patricia (Gary) Nugent, Cynthia (Peter) Jardine, Rita (Gordon) Walsh, Joan (Patrick Whiffen deceased); his brothers: Angus (Nancy), John (Ellen) who have been his constant companions, special sister-in-law: Brenda Downey Tobin (Ed Dyke) and Beverly Tobin and his treasured Goddaughter: Dianna Perry. His many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and who loved him in return. Walter’s most joyous moments were spent with his sons and grandsons, at his cabin, ski-doing and socializing with close friends, Vicky Porter, Doug Rideout, Harold Blackmore, Clarence Ford, brother John and many others who have been lifelong friends. Missing him is his constant companion, his fur baby Maggie. A very special thank you to the staff, residents and their families (past and present) of Tobin’s Guest Home. The loyalty, caring and compassion shown has been commendable. He had developed many friendships with the residents and their families and you were all considered part of his family. A special thank you to Dr. Paul Walsh, Dr. Chaudhary Ahmad, Doctors and staff of 4NA of HSC and the PCU at the Leonard A. Miller Centre for your care and compassion. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Walter’s life will take place at a time when his family and friends can safely gather together. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pentecostal Faith Cemetery, Long Pond, or to a charity of one’s choice.
