Obituary of John Penney

On Monday, July 19, 2021, John William Penney age 89, passed peacefully at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s, NL of pneumonia. A devoted Christian, a career carpenter, a lifelong gardener, poet, and woodturner. Dad was raised in St. John’s and built our family home in Topsail, where Mom & Dad raised four children. Dad was predeceased by his wife Georgina and son, Stephen (Wanda) of CBS, NL, and brothers Fred (Mildred) and Wallace (Marie). In addition to Steve, Dad was father to Mel (Wanda) of Moncton, NB, Fred (Valerie) of CBS, NL, and Dorothy of Ottawa, ON; Poppy to Amanda, Jason, Joel (Nicole), Nathan (Adel), Heather, Julia, Li-Anna, and Georgia, and Great-Poppy to Joe, Brody, Sophie and Earlie. Visitation will take place at Hickey’s Funeral Home in Conception Bay South, NL on Thursday, July 22 from 1 to 4 pm.
