I just received the news and was very sadened.
I worked with Doug for a couple of decades and have nothing but great memories of the "jolly fella". Doug was a historian of sorts with his many many stories. They were very informative and entertaining, never dull. I can say that I never saw him mad, he came close a few times, but he never raised his voice in haste. He was a fair man and the best manager I have ever worked for. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend

Lily, Scott, Susan, Marilyn, Mrs. Rideout, and all of the family,
I was sad to hear about Doug's passing and am very sorry for your loss. So many of the condolences from others paint a picture of Doug that rings so true to me; kind, caring, funny, gentle, helpful, and just about every other positive characteristic a person can have. He obviously lived his entire life with the same commitment to family, friends and community that I had known him for some years ago. I'm sure the memories and lessons of his life will live on in those that were close to him and provide some comfort that his life left the world a much better place.
My sincerest condolences,

Our deep condolences to Lilly, Scott, Susan and their families
My sister Gwen moved next to Lilly, Doug and Rachel 30 years ago. All the Rideouts, Fagans, and Reid familys became like family to us. In no time a path was made between the houses. After many BBQs we sat on deck enjoying a drink or two. While looking at the sky Doug would entertain us with stories, especially pointing out constellations, and paths of all the planes.
I will never look up on a clear starry night without thinking of this lovable, strong, happy person. Rest In Peace my friend..Heather

So many great memories of Doug over the years. I remember when we first moved next door to the Rideouts back in 1990 and how wethey became great neighbours and friends. Every year I would borrow Doug's axe to chop wood and I would end up splitting the handle. Doug would always replace the handle with no questions asked. Fast forward to years later, my wedding day to be exact in 2005 Doug gave me an axe! I still have the axe and think of him whenever I use it and of his friendship and kindness. I would like to think that Doug will be looking down at me when I'm using the axe and remember the great times we shared. Rest easy Doug.

To Doug’s Family, so sad to hear that Doug has passed away. He was indeed a very kind and gentle man. I remember many stories we shared while we helped out at All Saints Parish. Cherish his memories to help you through the difficult days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Take care and God Bless
