Cyril Power truly was one of the finest men I ever had the privilege of knowing .I have many wonderful memories of Cyril ( maybe I’ll write a book someday} but I’ll share one of my favourites.
There was a family wedding taking place in Botwood and Bun and Cyril stayed with me , at that time the birds were nesting and feeding their young Cyril was entertained sitting on the deck with a bird’s eye view of nature at its finest . He often spoke of that experience in his life .
Well my friend your soaring now with a birds eye view I thank God for memories .

Our sincerest sympathy to Bun, Lori and Jamie and family. It is hard to put into words how much we love Cyril and Bun. Cyril always had a big heart and such a caring person. Cyril has been a part of our lives for a very long time and the doors were always open to us. I would call and say get my room ready and he would laugh and say, yes, come on in. The door was always open and you always felt welcomed and at home. Cyril love to watch old movies and I say you watching new release and he laugh. He was such a caring person always ask how you were and any member of your family ask how they were doing. My dearest memory of him is when I was sick lying on his couch curled up and he took a blanket and put it over me to make sure I was warm and had comfort, that is just the kind of person he is. Cyril is like an old oak tree where his roots and his heart are deep and his care and love for his family are strong and unmeasurable, especially his love for Bun, Lori and Jamie and especially his grandchildren Avery, Josh, Reagan and Jayda. The first thing he would say to me every time he say me was “How’s your father? Is he still working?” We would chat and it always ended with his big smile. I’ve been lucky to be invited into your homes since grade school and it was always a warm and happy place. I will miss seeing him around or waving when I would see Bun and Cyril on their front deck. $2.00 Bus Ride - I grew up in Topsail, friends with Bun a lifetime. Well over 50 years ago Bun says to myself and MaryLou that she had relatives in Jerseyside and we should go over for a visit. It was only $2.00 for the bus. So off to Aunt Theresa’s was put in plan. We saved our lunch money for the week and Friday afternoon got the bus to Placentia. After a couple of weekends back and forth from Jerseyside to Placentia we met a lot of new friends. Then we walked to Freshwater one night and met a few more and one of them was Cyril Power with that big grin and the glint in his eyes. Nobody had a car so we’d just walk around or hang out at Aunt Theresa’s. We had fun. Eventually, it was just Bun going to Placentia every weekend of course to see Cyril. Cyril and Bun raised their family in Topsail, friends with everyone he met. On Friday I drove by their home and saw all the cars there I knew that all the family was gathered together by Cyril’s side. A great husband, Dad, grandfather, brother, friend to all.
Bun you made a great decision on that $2.00 bus ride, Cyril was well worth it. Love to all. Ann (Hutchings)
