I am very Thankful to have shared some great memories with you and Nan. If it was in your garden or just sitting on the patio. I treasured them all forever. I loved our agreement was to bring a rabbit or grouse for your bottled beets. Great trade in my books. You will be dearly missed by me and our family.
I thank you for all the memories.
Please say hi to Nan for me.
Rest easy Charlie.

Sending love & light to the Barnes family today. Charlie was always very sweet to me growing up, always welcomed me with open arms, a smile on his face and a hug and kiss on the cheek goodbye. In a family where there were so many of us, it can be easy to not pay attention to everyone but Charlie always enjoyed a chat with us and I know him & Nan will be happy to be together again. Their love seemed to grow even more as they aged. "I love you with all of my heart" I can hear them saying. May they be reunited in eternity and safe in the Kingdom.

To all of Charlie's family: I have many great memories of Charlie, not from the Avalon Club, but from his many years as owner/operator of the Kelli Lounge, Kelligrews. I was a young man when I first visited the club, but instantly took to him as a friend and he was a great mentor as well--full to the brim with knowledge and story telling abilities. With good friends, I attended the Kelli for a good many years and have great memoires that will last a lifetime. I haven't seen Charlie in a few years, but we always shared a story and a laugh when we did meet, well past the tavern days. He was a man of faith and true to his Church. He was truly one of the good ones that I will not soon forget. May he rest in peace. Jack and Brenda Morgan

Charlie,
I will miss getting a rise out of you and vice versa. You always had a smile for me. I made you laugh and you laughed hard. We enjoyed each other and you were always so thankful that we visited. I still remember my mom Nina Brown saying "Charlie Barnes, I heard his name so much from my father Sam Brown that I thought Charlie was the mayor". Fly high Charlie Barnes

The youngest and last of the family! We remember Uncle Charlie’s contagious laughter and, for many years watched him do his daily trek down the Conception Bay Highway.
He had a soft spot for the younger generation, our son included, and looked out for them as they plodded through their challenging teenage years ! His kindness towards them will always be remembered-many stories to be told! We send you our sincerest condolences!
