Tolson Scott

Obituary of Tolson Scott

Tolson Michael Scott (Oct 23, 1959 - Feb 1, 2022) Age 62

Tolson faced cancer with courage, hope and the same strong will with which he approached all life’s challenges. He fought with all his might. If a life can be measured by the amount of love in it, when his fight was over, he had won. Those he left behind are comforted knowing that his Mom and Dad, Mary and Ralph Scott, and his sister, Brenda, were there to welcome him home. Tolson loved life. He loved his life and he loved the people he was blessed to share it with. He will be dearly missed by his wife and his perfect match, Debbie; his children and step children, David Scott (Ashley), Stephanie Ryan (Steve), Melissa Hickey (Andrew) and Henry Hickey; his siblings, Barbara Tilley (Jerry), Gordon Scott (Gert), Donnie Scott (Roxanne) and Jerry Scott (Jackie), his cherished nieces and nephews; his parents-in-law, Victor and Viola Bolt; his sister-in-law, Judy Paul (Bill); Aunts Marg Morgan (Cyril) and Joan Scott; and a wide circle of dear friends. It’s been said that “No one is actually gone until the ripples they cause in the world die away.”  We are sure Poppy T will live on for generations in his precious grandsons, Peter and Dominic. Those who knew Tolson well, knew that behind that strong exterior, was a soft heart and those boys exposed it to the world. They were his joy. Since retiring in 2009 from a long career as a correctional officer, he and Deb have enjoyed many adventures at their cabin on the West coast, where their circle of friends (and memories) continued to grow.  Tolson was happiest in a boat or on the barrens, enjoying nature with his faithful hunting companions, his dogs (most recently Sue, Charlie, Jake and Chico). He loved watching sports on TV (even golf!) and was known to be an athlete himself, trying his hand as a runner, cyclist and rower. He built houses and he made homes. Remember Tols by enjoying the simple pleasures in life and by living your own life to the fullest. Tolson never took for granted the love and good fortune he experienced in his life. In accordance with COVID restrictions, a private visitation and funeral service is planned.  To attend the visitation and funeral service, NL VaxPass and Identification are required. Funeral service will take place in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Gullies on Saturday, Februsry 5th, 2022 at 11AM by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in his Tolson’s memory to The Gathering Place.
