I am so happy that I was able to host Cynthia and family at least once in our Newfoundland home. I hope that Roy and Lesley and family will continue to connect with us and visit when we are there.
Our Newfoundland visits and home will always be filled with memories of Cynthia and her spirit of love and family.

Our very first Christmas was made very special by Cynthia and her entire family. She made sure we had Christmas presents to put under our tree and made sure that we were included in family celebrations and meals. I cherish the gifts she gave us during this time and still use my Newfoundland souvenirs from her fondly.
I still chuckle at her reaction to the gifts I brought her to fend off evil eyes and envy. She proudly wore her protective Italian jewelry and laughed about how she was very envied because we all knew how special she was!
This was a Christmas to remember!!!

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Cynthia?
A: Cynthia was a warm and generous person full of personality. She was a great chef and taught me new Newfoundland recipes!
Cynthia was always ready to host whether it was when she had Garry and I over to meet the entire family or when I dropped in with a friend while travelling. She always had a place for us to stay and made us delicious meals!
She was the hostess with the mostest! I will never forget her generosity and her delicious meals. I will also always cherish our late night talks after everyone went to sleep!
This generosity extended to her beautiful daughter Lesley who was also generous in hosting us and I could always see how proud Cynthia was about Lesley!

Q: What will you never forget about Cynthia?
A: I will never forget that Cynthia always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was so proud of Newfoundland and was thrilled when we bought a home there.
I remember her and Roy showing up after a long drive to visit us as we had just bought our first house there. Cynthia didn’t tell us she was coming and in our Cynthia style, she showed up with a packed picnic fur all of us!

The first time we met Cynthia was amazing and memorable! She made a point of driving to the RV park in St. John’s to meet us which is the first picture here. Later during that trip we were invited to spend some time with Cynthia and Roy at an RV park they had their beautiful RV at.
We had lots of delicious food cooked up by Cynthia, lots of fun, and lots of good laughs as Cynthia had the best sense of humour! Cynthia also took me shopping for some great Newfoundland souvenirs.
I absolutely loved spending time with Cynthia in Newfoundland and when I was back in Ontario she always messaged me on Facebook or called to check in. Loved her!

Roy, Lesley and Family,
We were saddened to hear of Cynthia‘S sudden passing. We enjoyed many good times with you and Cynthia. She was an excellent cook and hostess and a very good friend.
When you bought a home in Camelot East both Cynthia and I enjoyed riding our bikes.Cynthia would come and ring our doorbell and say, “Cal, can Norma come out to play?” We were just like children again, carefree and fun loving. What beautiful days we enjoyed together!
We hope the many happy memories you created as a family will bring you comfort at this time.
You are in our thought and prayers,
Cal and Norma

My very first memory of Aunt Cynthia is her friendly and sweet voice calling our home in Toronto making plans to connect with us since she had not seen her nephew, my husband, since he was a little boy, Shortly after, we came to NFLD and we experienced her outgoing personality and warmth when her and Roy came to meet us in person for the first time in Pippy Park as they came out to find us. From that day forward, I only knew a woman full of love, laughter, and generosity.
Her love of NFLD was contagious and I soon caught the bug! Her love for her family was endless, and she beamed with pride over her daughter Lesley, husband Roy, grandchildren , Noah and Victoria, and son-in-law Marc. Her love and pride for them was unmistakable!
She felt the deep loss of her parents, like it was just yesterday that they were gone and kept their memory alive in every black and white photo she shared with us. She shared many family stories bringing everyone to life for us.
Aunt Cynthia demonstrated her love and generosity to Garry and I from the moment we met her. She always hosted us and opened her home to us many times inviting us to stay over or inviting us to many a home cooked delicious meal. From cooking up our favourite cod tongues (demonstrating her culinary skills) to cooking up a full turkey dinner with all the dressings. She definitely introduced me to some amazing Newfoundland recipes. She was a social butterfly inviting us to get togethers with her friends and neighbours which she organized to introduce us to them. Her humour and laughter at these events will forever be etched in my heart.
Cynthia beamed with pride when Garry and I bought a house in NFLD and often called or messaged me in Toronto asking, ‘Rita, when are you coming home?’ Her first visit to our home in NFLD was unforgettable as she and Roy surprised us when they pulled into our driveway after a 2 hour drive with a cooler full of egg salad sandwiches, drinks , and snacks. They knew we were working on the house and just seeing their familiar faces was so uplifting. . It was our pleasure to host Cynthia, Roy, and Lesley and family at our NFLD house the one time and I am sad there were not many more opportunities!
Cynthia and I enjoyed long chats at her house, on the phone, or via messenger and she always made a point of asking about the whole family. We shared so many humorous moments including the kick she got out of my using Italian magic to remove the ‘evil eye’ and envy from her. We laughed wildly on our way to dinner out with the boys when she rushed and put on a piece of clothing backwards! Who could forget the time Garry arrived in dense fog and was waiting to be picked up at the local Irving? Cynthia reassured me she knew where this was and to follow her only to finally pull over and tell me she had no idea where she was going! When the fog cleared it was embarrassingly close! There was never a moment we were not laughing but Cynthia had a way of finding humour in everything.
I will never forget my first Christmas in NFLD when I was able to gift Cynthia some Italian ‘evil eye’ trinkets and when she was so thoughtful and gifted us some Christmas items for our NFLD home with mummer and other NFLD themes. I will always look at the beautiful Newfoundland art she gifted us which sits in our NFLD home and think of her fondly.
I am so thankful and honoured Cynthia came into our lives and blessed us with amazing memories we will forever cherish and carry in our hearts. I will forever regret not seeing her one last time and not having the opportunity to host her in our home in Toronto. I will forever regret not being able to tell her these memories and how much she meant to us!
Wishing that Cynthia is reunited with the family she loved, in heaven, laughing her contagious laugh, sharing the great stories she has to tell, and enjoying delicious meals.
You will be forever loved and missed and never forgotten! Shine forever beautiful star and Rest In Peace!
Until we meet again Aunt Cynthia! ❤️❤️❤️
Rita
