Rete was an icon in the community. Everybody knew here. On rainy days, she often picked us up at school and took us to our homes for lunch . No matter how old we got, she always remembered us and stopped to have a chat.
Sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to her loved ones.

So sorry to hear of Rita’s passing. We met her when she lived across the street from us. We had her over for Thanksgiving dinner one year soon after we met her. She was such a sweet lady. She love to tell us about when she worked with the Mayor of St. John’s. RIP Rita.

We were heartbroken to hear of Rita's passing. We have alot of wonderful, loving memories of Rita over the years of her being with our family for dinners, games of cards and on special occasions. There were many laughs with her storytelling and jokes. She always kept us entertained. We will miss her alot and especially her many phone calls for a chat. We know she'll soon be into a game of 120's with her card friends that have gone before her. Our heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends.
Rest in Peace Dear Rita. You will not be forgotten.
Love and hugs

Saddened to hear of Rete’s passing. So many fond memories from the times we would visit Patsy’s parents in Kelligrews and meeting up with her either at the house or out parked overlooking the bay. My favourite memory was when Rete and Eleanor spent a couple days with us in Glovertown. Going to miss hearing her voice when Rete and Patsy spoke on the phone. Loves you old trout.

Our condolences to the family. We always enjoyed a game of Scat, a good laugh, and a glass of wine. Gathering around Moms(Eleanor Dawe) table when we came out to visit. So I imagine they’re gathered around another table together now. Rete I’ll always remember the warm hugs you had for us all when we seen each other, and always had a good joke to tell us. You will be missed by all those who knew you..Rest in Peace Rete, till we meet again❤️

So saddened to hear of Rete’s passing. Rete had a love of telling jokes, a loveable personality and could give those wonderful bear hugs. She loved to come to Mom and Dad’s (Andrew & Eleanor Dawe) when any of us were there for a game of Scat and a good laugh. Now most of their card buddies are all together again. Rest in Peace Rete…we all love you ❤️ go fly with the Angels

Well Rete,
You did it again, made it to the pearly gates just before Gordon Pinsent. Mr. Pinsent was a NL icon but you were as well. I am not sure if you personally knew him.
However, there are some similarities:
His birthday was the 12 July and yours being the 13 July.
When he walked in a room, everyone new it.
He was known all over NL, and you were very close to that stat.
He was game for anything and you were as well.
You both loved to tell a story,
On the other hand, your bark was worst than your bite. Now during your lifetime you knew all the rules, and managed to break as many as you could in your 90 years. I would ask for a sign that you are presently where you wanted to get...but, hold off on that for now.
You will be missed but believe you me, you won't be forgotten.
You were a legend in your time.
God Speed Rete, Rest In Peace

We were so sorry to hear of Rita’s passing. We had many enjoyable games of cards with her through the last five or six years, many political conversations which could many times get a rise from her. Her wit and humour certainly added to our fun nights. She will be missed . Rest In Peace Rita.

Rete will be missed by all her friends at Admirals Coast. You only had to meet Rete once to remember her and she was always up for a bit of fun and a good laugh. Rete was also very kind and generous , often times the first to offer a donation to the local food bank and other charities. I was really glad to have gotten to know Rete these past few years. She is finally with the rest of her family that she missed so dearly.
