Obituary of Ian Greeley

Greeley, Ian Clayton (August 30th, 1949 – December 23rd, 2023)

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness surrounded by his loving family, Ian Greeley of Topsail.

Predeceased by his father: Hugh Greeley, mother and stepfather: Isabel and Gordon Penney, brothers: David and Tolson, sisters: Betty and Beverley.

A loving family man, he leaves to mourn his wife of 52 years: Suzanne (O’Reilly), daughters: Laura (Lori) LeDrew (Scott) and Lisa Dillon (Robert), grandchildren: whom he adored, Lucas and Logan LeDrew and Emily Dillion. Also, brother: Victor (Marilyn) and sister: Marilyn Dodge, brothers-in-law: John (Carol) O’Reilly, Rod (Brenda) O’Reilly and sister-in-law: Jackie (Derm) O’Grady. Also mourning, his shed buddy and nephew: Greg (Ruth) Greeley and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ian was born in Petty Harbour but spent most of his life in Topsail. He was a former Electrician at the Newfoundland Dockyard and Memorial University. He was a well-liked gentle man with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed playing softball, darts and painting. Ian was a diehard Habs fan, who was well known in all the hockey rinks where he enjoyed watching his grandson Lukie play.

Thank you to all who supported Ian and family through his final days. Special thanks to the amazing staff of the ICU and 4SB. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, 570 Conception Bay Highway, CBS on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, from  12- 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. Funeral service in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail on Thursday, December 28th, 2023, at 11 am. Interment in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery.
